Course description
Course is the study of systems producing goods and services. It considers the role of the operations function and its impact on the competitiveness of the firm in local and global economy. Operational issues include designing, acquiring, operating, and maintaining the facilities and processes; purchasing raw materials; controlling and maintaining inventories needed to produce a good or service so that customers' expectations are met.

Course objectives
The course has two primary objectives: 1) to familiarize students with the decisions made in the management of operations and the environment in which these decisions are made; 2) to help students master both qualitative and quantitative techniques for analysis, decision-making, and control in operations and production management.

Evaluation:
Four Tests - 72%;  Assignments & Quizzes - 28%

Letter grade and course work credit: A(90-100), B(80-89.9), C(70-79.9), D(60-69.9), F(below 60)

Tests and assignments
Two equally weighed tests and a final exam will deal with the concepts discussed in class and developed in the assigned readings and assignments. Makeup tests are not given. If you are going to miss a test, you must contact the instructor prior to the test time for any special consideration. At the instructor’s discretion, test content and test results credit percentages following a student’s absence may be adjusted to compensate for an absence from a regularly scheduled examination. Assignments are due when class officially starts. Assignments will be announced in class and will be posted on the Blackboard course page. Late assignments will be penalized 10 points per class day they are late.

Attendance
You are expected to attend class. Failure to do so will result in your missing material explanation, homework assignments, and the possibility of extra credit assignments.
